TAOISEACH RENEWS CALL FOR DIALOGUE BETWEEN PRAVEEN HALAPPANAVAR AND INQUIRY CHAIRMAN
Date Published: 21-Nov-2012
The Taoiseach has urged Praveen Halappanavar to sit down and meet with the Chairman of the inquiry into his wife’s death.
Enda Kenny’s also again dismissed calls for a full public inquiry into Savita Halappanavar’s death at University Hospital Galway last month.
He says the widower’s feelings have been taken into account by the removal of three doctors from Galway University hospital from the inquiry.
He’s also described the Chairman of the inquiry – Professor Alkumaran as a man of integrity – despite concerns from Galway Independent Senator Ronan Mullen that he’s an advocate of abortion.
31 year old Savita, a dentist living in the city, died at UHG on the 28th of October from blood poisoning after suffering a miscarriage.
Her family claims she had been refused a termination.
The solicitor representing her husband said they will press for a public inquiry.
Speaking on Galway Talks, City based solicitor Gerard O’ Donnell, says Praveen Halapannavar has no faith in the HSE inquiry and will not co-operate with it.
