SUPERMAC’S APPEALS OVER PORTUMNA TAKE-AWAY PLANS
Date Published: 03-Sep-2012
Supermac’s is appealing a decision to allow another take away open in the centre of Portumna town.
It’s claimed the new restaurant would have a negative impact on the day to day running of a nearby Supermacs.
In June, Galway County Council gave the green light for the change of use from a licensed premises to restaurant/take away in Portumna town with seven conditions.
It was proposed to open the new take away at St. Brendan’s street where up to three similar businesses are located.
Pat McDonagh has lodged an appeal to the take away, adjacent to the existing Supermacs, stating it will impact negatively on the day to day operation of this business.
Concerns have been raised over the provision of take aways in one concentrated area of Portumna town where external storage space and circulation is severely restricted.
