Around 50 people including local councillors attending a public information session at Pearse stadium last evening over the plans.

The GAA is intending to submit a planning application to erect new floodlights at the stadium, which it’s hoped would allow for more matches to be played on the grounds.

The amended plans involve the erection of three 36 metre masts at the Dr. Mannix side and two 30 metre masts at the stand side of the pitch.

However, many residents are concerned over the number of matches as well as the proposed traffic management plan for the area.

Further consultations with planners and residents are expected to take place in the coming weeks.

City Councillor Peter Keane believes compromise can be reached before the plan is submitted
