REPORT INTO AIRCRAFT CRASH IN DUNMORE
Date Published: 15-Jan-2013
A pilot without a valid licence who crashed his aircraft in Dunmore last year flew contrary to the rules of the air, at a low height thereby endangering the public.
That’s the view of the air accident and investigation unit which today released a report into the microlight crash in Dunmore on the fifth of August.
The aircraft, a powerchute kestrel, consists of a steerable bicycle undercarriage under a metal frame with two seats, behind which an engine with a pusher propeller is mounted.
The 63 year old pilot, conducted the low ‘fly by’ over a field in Dunmore where a vintage farm equipment rally was taking place.
Todays report reveals the pilot was unlicensed and the aircraft, which had been de-registered by the UK in 20-11, did not have a permit to fly.
