The St Vincent de Paul in Galway is using funds from a city centre pub bequest to introduce a groundbreaking programme for children at risk.

The ‘Incredible Years’ Programme has been successfully treating children with emotional and behavioural difficulties in America and Europe and was also piloted in Dublin.

The St Vincent de Paul have now decided to put some of the 7 million euro from the bequest towards the project.

Last July the Galway Society of the St Vincent De Paul received some 7 million euro from the estate of the late Maureen O’Connell of O’Connell’s pub on Eyre Square.

Since then they’ve set up an expert group to decide how best to invest the money so the people of Galway city and county will benefit.
