KILKERRIN ACTION GROUP VOWS TO OPPOSE BROADBAND MAST
Date Published: 02-Aug-2010
An action group in the Kilkerrin area of the county says it will continue to fight plans to construct a broadband mast in their area.
The Newforest Action group was set up several months ago after Hutchinson 3G applied to build the mast on a site around 5 kilometres east of Kilkerrin.
In June, county planners refused the proposed development on the basis of its location- less than seven kilometres from six special areas of conservation including Lough Lurgeen bog.
Hutchinson 3G is now appealing this decision to An Bord Pleanala as it believes there is an essential need for the broadband mast under the National Broadband scheme.
