Galway Bay fm newsroom – Criminal activity has increased in rural Galway, while the city has recorded a drop in crime rates.
That’s according to data compiled by Netwatch.
The figures show a 5 percent drop in urban crime in Galway city in the past 12 months while the county has recorded an increase of 4.5 percent.
Therese Cullen of Netwatch says the study shows that criminals are now targetting more isolated areas.

With 33% of the boxes tallied, Cllr O’Flaherty is polling strongly, particularly in Renmore.
The Green Party’s Claire Hillery is on about 7%, with Fine Gael on 10% and Sinn Fein on 5%.
