Gardaí want to question city man after assault on female tourist
Date Published: 06-Jun-2011
Gardai are on the hunt for a city man who they want to question in relation to a serious assault on an English woman at his home in the early hours of Sunday morning. They are also seeking the help of two taxi drivers who may be able to further the investigation.
The woman, who is understood to be from the Liverpool area, was visiting Galway with a large group of people for a hen night.
Described as being in her mid 20s, with long brown hair which was tied up, she was distinctively dressed in a ¾ length red jumpsuit, which was off her left shoulder.
The group went to Coyote’s night club on Forster Street on Saturday night, where she met a male and went back to his home in Clifden Crescent, Newcastle, at about 3.40am.
There she was viciously attacked, and received serious injuries to her head and body. She managed to escape and ran to a neighbouring house, from where the alarm was raised.
Gardai sealed off the scene for a technical examination, and the woman was taken away in an ambulance. She was hospitalised, but her injuries are not life threatening.
