Date Published: 30-May-2012

One point seven million euro in funding has been secured for improvement works on the N63 Galway to Roscommon road, from Ballyglunin to Abbeyknockmoy

The aid had been allocated last year but was returned to the NRA after it failed to be drawn down following a delay in the process of appointing consultants.

The realignment project was then given an allocation of just 500 thousand euro which would enable fencing work only.

Tuam Councillor Peter Roche says the Director of Services Frank Gilmore has now confirmed that the original funding has now been restored.

It’s due to go out to tender later this week with work expected to start late this year or early 2013.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Councillor Roche says the project represents a serious investment in the East Galway region.
