Avaya launches Jobseekers Support Programme in Galway
Avaya International Sales Limited, a major telecoms research and development centre based in Mervue Business Park, Galway, is launching a ‘Job Seekers Support Program’ (JSSP) to begin in September.
This program, in conjunction with ITAG (Information Technology Association Galway) Skillnet, is aimed solely at training unemployed people – those who have been on the live register for six months or more – and will provide skills which are in demand by ICT industry.
Training will be provided on the Avaya Campus in Galway and will take in ten job seekers through an intensive and fast tracked software engineering development curriculum.
The program is targeted at job seekers with limited IT background who have a proactive positive attitude, are capable of working independently or as part of a cross functional team, possess good written and verbal communication skills.
General knowledge and understanding of Information Technology Infrastructures would be an advantage.
Opportunities will exist in Software Development, Software Test Automation and Software Quality Assurance.
Avaya has a history in supporting individuals back into employment and takes a proactive approach to building a sustainable workforce.
Since the inception of the JobBridge program in 2011 Avaya has provided placements focused on providing hands-on training to job seekers looking to enhance their opportunities in the labour market.
Eighty per cent of jobseekers that have completed their internship with Avaya have successfully secured paid employment with the vast majority of those securing permanent roles at Avaya.
