Zimmer Biomet hosts Women’s Inspired Network
Zimmer Biomet recently hosted a Women’s Inspired Network (WIN) event at its manufacturing operations in Oranmore – in line with the company’s commitment to creating, supporting and celebrating diverse, equal and inclusive workplaces and communities.
Organised with the support of both Galway and Shannon Chambers of Commerce, the event attracted an audience of over 60 people – women and men – from both Zimmer Biomet and the broader business community in the West and Mid-West regions.
In March of this year, International Women’s Day celebrated the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women globally.
This year’s theme, #BreakTheBias, invited everyone to come together to reimagine a future free from bias, stereotypes and discrimination, a world where difference is valued and celebrated, regardless of gender identity.
The Zimmer Biomet event at Oranmore was designed to advance that conversation within an Irish context and local setting.
Guest speaker at the event, sports and television personality Anna Geary, spoke about her experience of breaking the bias both on and off the sports field before discussing the importance of having the right mindset and achieving a positive state of wellness.
A panel discussion, featuring Caroline Healy (Medtronic) and Lisa Casserly (Zimmer Biomet) also took place followed by a Q&A.
Established in 2019, Zimmer Biomet’s Women’s Inspired Network (WIN) in Ireland is a voluntary, employee-led group, working to raise awareness and inspire action through educational events and mentoring.
The goal is to alleviate the disparities and issues women face in the workplace, particularly in orthopaedics, and to encourage and enable personal and professional well-being and development.
