YES VOTE WINS OUT NATIONALLY AND IN TWO GALWAY CONSTITUENCIES

Ireland’s passed the fiscal treaty referendum.

First results from the 43 constituencies around the country are now in – with a national declaration later this afternoon.

It’s expected six constituencies will reject the treaty, but the national Yes vote will exceed 55%.

Galway’s two constituencies have passed the treaty.

58% of Galway West voted Yes, against 42% who said No to the monetary amendment of the European constitution.

The Yes vote came out stronger in Galway East, with 63% supporting the treaty. 37% per cent of Galway East voters said No.
