X-Factor continues to destroy the music industry

The future of our sad music industry at the moment lies in the hands of the four acts who performed at the weekend and to say that they were a failure would be something of a compliment – they were the essence of bland.

And yet the four judges were so enthusiastic about the last four finalists on Saturday night which were eventually going to be whittled down to two on Sunday evening. Shows all they know.

The X-Factor has been on our screens for more years than is tolerable. It has produced . . . sorry, manufactured . . . a number of successful acts down the years, but none that would be tolerable.

Christ, imagine going out and wasting money on a One Direction CD or something that has been produced by Olly Murs. It doesn’t bear thinking about. In fact I would sooner eat out-of-date turkey than listen to any of these acts.

Over the weekend we were treated to the final four acts who performed twice to add to the agony. All of the performances were forced and if it were my own choice, none of them would win. It was all terrible stuff.

On the first occasion they sang songs that were chosen for them and then they had to Elton John numbers which was something that nobody should have to go through. All of the remaining four acts sang some of his most bland hits. In fact, I cannot recall any of Elton John’s songs that weren’t bland.

The four remaining acts were foisted upon us over the weekend and to be quite honest none of them were anything special. They forced the songs upon us to such an extent that they became odious.

I know that there are silly people going around the place with their hearts set on Luke Friend and Nicholas McDonald getting through to the final stages, but neither of them are fit to become pop stars.

The same could be said of Sam Bailey and the black group Rough Copy who are mediocre at best and should not be at this level of the competition. And yet the judges are swooning all over them and telling them how good they are.
