World champion takes to the Comedy stage
Small screen fans will know him as Frank Rossitano from the Emmy Award-winning 30 Rock and he’s also familiar from Meet the Parents, Zoolander and the Wrestler – but on the comedy stage, Judah Friedlander is simply the World Champion.
And that makes it fitting that he’s among the stars at the Opening Gala of this year’s Galway Comedy Festival, when it opens in the The Spiegeltent Paradiso on Thursday, October 16, alongside Colin Murphy, Terry Alderton, Benny Boot, Al Porter and Bernard O’Shea.
Even though Judah has made over 30 movies and appeared in hundreds of TV shows, stand-up comedy is Judah’s priority and specialty.
He is not an actor who does stand-up on the side – he’s more of a stand-up comedian who acts on the side. He always has new material and plays off the audience so he never does the same show twice.
As ‘The World Champion’ of everything, he is the best athlete in the world, greatest martial artist, the sexual desire of every woman, and a role model to children – arguably the greatest comedian in the world…..and the most humble.
If you miss Judah Friedlander on the Opening Gala Night, he will also be at the Róisín Dubh with Benny Boot and Steve Bennett on Friday, October 17.
One of the star turns of this year’s festival doesn’t have far to travel at all to take part – but what Tommy Tiernan saves in travel, he makes up for in energy.
He is back with a brand new show ‘Out Of The Whirlwind’ for the Vodafone Comedy Carnival – again at the Spiegeltent Paradiso on Friday October, Saturday and Sunday, October 17, 18 and 19. And he’s selling out fast.
RTE will air a new documentary on Tommy’s recent European tour, ‘Tommy: To Tell You The Truth’ next week following his ‘Open Mouth’ performances.
There will be one performance of his improvised ‘Open Mouth’ in Galway – at the Roisin Dubh on Thursday, October 17 – and it too is almost sold out.
His recent tour of Europe included Finland, France, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and Estonia and he is about to embark on UK tour dates this autumn.
