WORK RESUMES ON REPAIRING WATER PIPE AFTER TALKS WITH LANDOWNER

Work has now resumed on repairing a burst main on the Headford Road in the city after city council officials settled the concerns of the landowner involved.

Shareridge had been appointed to work on permanently repairing a leak in the Bothar na Choiste area since yesterday after a temporary fix was installed last week.

The burst watermain had left three thousand homes on the east of the city without water at the end of last week.

However work was stalled early this morning when the landowner held discussions with council staff and officials.

Galway City Council has confirmed that all matters have been resolved in the last number of hours and workers are now back on site.
