Work could begin at Galway Docks in 2015
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Work on changing Galway harbour in the city could begin in 2015.
That’s according to the Chief Executive of Galway Harbour Company, Eamon Bradshaw.
The latest traffic figures for the port, which were discussed at a board meeting today (30/8) show that through-put is up more than 13 percent on last year.
Imports, which include coal, steel and oil increased by 17 thousand tonnes.
Exports jumped by 24 thousand tonnes, mostly due to the increased demand for granular limestone in Scotland and Scandinavia.
There number of ships through Galway port increased by almost a fifth to the end of August.
A deadline of the end of September has been set to lodge the planning application for the redevelopment of Galway Docks through the IROPI process.
