Woolgatherer for Town Hall Theatre
Galway audiences will have another chance to see The Woolgatherer by Emmy award-winning author, William Mastrosimone when it returns to the Town Hall Theatre next Tuesday and Wednesday, September 11 and 12.
Set in South Philadelphia, it centres on Rose and Cliff, two neurotic people searching for love. They are performed by Sinéad O’Riordan and Michael Hough who deliver “knockout performances”, according to The Sunday Times, which described this black comedy as a “must see” when it premiered in Dublin in April. Sinéad has produced the play as well as appearing in it, while it is directed by David Byrne, Artistic Director of Blue Moon Theatre Company.
The play’s assistant producer and lighting designer, Becky Gardiner and the assistant director, Donna Patrice are from Loughrea, adding a strong Galway element to the production. It previously played in the Town Hall studio in May and feedback was so positive that it was invited back to the venue’s main stage.
Sinéad O’Riordan runs ORion Productions which has joined forces with Blue Moon Theatre to present The Woolgatherer.
l The Woolgatherer will be staged at 8pm on September 11 and 12 at the Town Hall and tickets are €15 / €12 from tht.ie, 091-569777 and at the venue.
