WOMAN WHO DIED IN LOUGHREA FIRE NAMED LOCALLY

The woman in her seventies who died after a house fire in Loughrea this morning has been named locally as Ann McCormack.

The fire broke out upstairs at the family home on the old Galway road shortly after midnight.

Her husband and grandson, who were in the house at the time, are being treated at UHG this afternoon where their condition has been described as stable.

The family are well known in the locality, and run a filling station on the Gort road.
