A woman had to be restrained by gardai and removed from Galway District Court yesterday when she began shouting abuse and threatened to commit suicide.

Mary Fahy, c/o Osterley Lodge, Lower Salthill, was sentenced moments later in her absence to seven months in prison for a spate of public order offences.

Gardai and prison officers sitting nearby grabbed Fahy and frog-marched her from the courtroom as she continued to shout and make threats.
