Woman questioned over fatal Salthill stabbing

Gardaí are continuing to question a woman this morning (Monday) in relation to the fatal stabbing of a man in Salthill last night.

The body of a man, believed to be in his 50s, was discovered on the rooftop balcony of an apartment building near Galway Atlantiquaria at around 10.35pm.

A woman in her 30s was subsequently arrested and taken to Galway Garda Station for questioning.

Forensic specialists from the Garda Technical Bureau are continuing their examination of the scene and the Deputy State Pathologist has been informed. A post mortem is expected to be carried out later today.

Gardaí are continuing to carry out enquiries in the immediate area – last night, dozens of holidaymakers and locals were questioned by officers.
