WOMAN EVACUATED FROM MAUMTURK MOUNTAINS

The coastguard helicopter is assisting in the rescue operation of a woman injured in the Maumturk mountains.

The woman in her 60s is being taken to University Hospital Galway, after she injured her leg while walking in the Connemara mountain range.

The Galway Mountain Rescue team were alerted to the incident at around 8am.

The Maumturks challenge walk, which is a test of hillwalking endurance is taking place today.
