A witness has been telling a Galway jury how he was shot by another city man during a row in Ballybane last year.

The trial of 26 year old John Paul Sweeney, of 102 Fearann Rí, Doughiska and 27 year old Tommy McDonagh, of 293 Castlepark has begun at Galway Circuit Criminal Court.

Both deny having a 12 gauge, single barrel shotgun and cartridges with intent to endanger the life of 34 year old Tom Mongan in Ballybane on February 21st last year.

Tom Mongan told the jury of five men and seven women that he was shot in the chest, leg and hands during an argument on the street near his home.

Mongan said he had punched Tommy McDonagh during a row earlier that night.

The trial continues.
