A ward at University Hospital Galway has been closed down to a suspected out break of the Winter Vomiting bug.

St Anthony’s ward is now closed to new admissions, and the HSE says the situation is being monitored on a daily basis.

An Outbreak Control Committee has been formed and management and staff at UHG have put in place measures to reduce the risk of the winter vomiting bug spreading.

Visitors are asked not to visit the Hospital unless it is essential and, where it is essential, that visiting be confined to visiting times only 2pm – 4pm & 6.30pm – 8.30pm.
