WIDESPREAD SUPPORT FOR GUANTANAMO DEMONSTRATION IN CITY

Approximately 15 people took part in a demonstration in the city this afternoon [31/10] to highlight the torture that’s taking place in detention centres in Guantanamo Bay.

The mood was sombre in Eyre Square as the parade walked blindfolded and in shackles down shop street.

The demonstrators walked in silence to reflect what they says is the silence that surrounds the issue of detention centres.
