West’s new hospitals chief executive to earn €142,000 a year

Applications have been invited to head up the West of Ireland’s public hospital group.

The salary scale for the new position, Group Chief Executive, Saolta University Health Care Group, is €142,000 per annum for a 37-hours net working week. The position is pensionable.

The Health Service Executive is seeking to fill the position on a whole-time, fixed term contract of five years.

The Saolta University Health Care Group includes University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital, Sligo Regional Hospital, Letterkenny General Hospital, Mayo General Hospital, Portiuncula Hospital and Roscommon County Hospital.

Until recently, it used to be known as West/North West Hospitals Group. The academic partner is the NUI Galway.

Saolta University Health Care Group has 1,770 beds and 7,620 staff and a budget of €600m. “Based in Galway, this is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced leader to shape the future of one of Ireland’s premier hospital groups,” the HSE said.

The closing date for applications will be November 20.
