VERY few games survived the weekend water fest as the vast majority of the Galway League programme was literally wiped out. However two Western Hygiene Supplies Premier Division games survived and it was sides in the lower half of the table who took the opportunity to pick up points and ease their relegation worries.

A Shane Browne goal was enough to give Salthill Devon a narrow 1-0 win over Hibernians in Drom. For the Bohermore based side, it was a lost chance to take over at the top of the table as the outcome leaves leaders West United two points clear, while they also enjoy two games in hand.

Out in Oranmore, the hosts moved into a more comfortable mid table position with their third win of the season. They ran out easy 4-0 winners over a struggling Dynamo Blues team. The home side took an early advantage when Brian Mannion converted a penalty awarded for handball and with the first of a brace Dermot Noone headed home the second before the break.

Oranmore continued to enjoy supremacy and it was central defender Noone who was well positioned to finish at the far post following a Lonan O’Farrell corner to make it three nil. In the closing minutes Dave Devlin completed their tally by firing home the fourth with a low shot.
