Commuters are battling to get to work again this morning as the cold snap continues.

Temperatures as low as minus 14 were recorded in parts of Galway last night.

Road conditions are treacherous after further snowfalls overnight and freezing temperatures.

Galway Gardaí are again urging motorists to drive with extreme caution this morning in particular along secondary and minor roads which have not been gritted.

There are long delays on the N17 Tuam road at ClareGalway due to icy conditions.

Roads around Clifden are also particularly hazardous this morning because of compacted snow.
