WATER TO BE SHUT OFF IN PARTS OF THE COUNTY
Date Published: 18-Jun-2010
County Galway is suffering from water shortages.
Due to a lack of rainfall recently, some water schemes in the county will undergo water conservation measures.
Users of the Ahascragh Public Water Supply, including the Eglish, Lowville, Cornamucklagh, Castlegar and Ballyglass group water schemes, will have no water from midnight tonight until 7 o’ clock tomorrow morning.
The water will continue to be shut off on the Ahascragh Scheme every night from midnight until 7am until further notice.
Meanwhile, the Inis Mór and Inis Oírr public water supply is also severely restricted.
There are currently restrictions between 8pm and 8am, however it’s expected that the restrictions on the Aran Islands water supply will increase tomorrow.
Water tankers will be deployed on Inis Mór early next week to supplement supply.
The County Council is advising all water users in Galway to reduce water consumption to a minimum, while the dry spell continues.
