WATER TANKERS FOR WESTERN SUBURBS FROM 6.30
Date Published: 27-Mar-2008
Water tankers are now available for householders and businesses across the western side of the city who have been without water since Wednesday
Galway city council has been so far unable to find the source of the leak causing water supplies to be shut down west of Bishop O’Donnell Road out as far as and including Barna and Moycullen
The problem concerns an as yet unidentified leak in a mains pipe supplying Tonabrocky reservoir from the Terryland Waterworks.
City and county council officials are asking the public to conserve and minimise water use until they find the leak, with fresh efforts to find it getting underway again this morning [fri]
As an interim measure the local authorities last evening [thurs mar 27] set up stationary water tanks at five locations
Members of the public can bring containers to these locations and draw water for use in their homes.
The tanks are located at:
· An Fuarán Carpark, Moycullen
· Woodstock (near Maddens)
· Clooniffe Road near Junction with N59
· Paddy’s Cross, near Barna Golf Club and
. Drum Road.
The authorities say that as a precautionary measure, water collected from these tankers should be boiled before drinking, brushing teeth, or using for food preparation
