Date Published: 08-Jan-2011

Night time water restrictions will remain in place in some parts of the county for at least another week.

Director of services at Galway county Council, Jim Cullen, says that crews are working around around the clock to repair leaks but demand for water is still exceptionally high.

Mr.Cullen says he expects all night time water restrictions in the county to be lifted in the next seven to ten days.

This means homes served by the Mid Galway regional water scheme, the Oranmore public supply and Athenry public supply will continue to have nightly water service restricted between 9pm and 9am.

Individual water supplies to homes in Barna, Forramoyle and parts of Moycullen will also be affected intermittently due to leak repairs.

A boil water notice is still in place for homes served by the mid Galway public supply, the Gort public water scheme, the Roscuc water scheme and the Letterfrack Public water scheme.

A boil water notice is also still in place for residents on the Tullycross public water scheme and the areas served by the Redmount hill resevoir which includes Meelick, Fahey, Clonfert and Eyrecourt environs.

Stand pipes are still in place at a number of locations across the county including Athenry, Gort and Spiddal.

This water must be boiled before use.
