WASTE COMPANY REACTS TO APPEAL BOARDS DECISION TO REFUSE PERMISSION FOR KILCHREEST PLANT

Walsh Waste has hit back at An Bord Pleanala and says its decision to overturn permission for a plant near Loughrea is a huge blow for jobs in the area.

Walsh Waste was given the go-ahead last August to turn its animal skin and hide curing plant outside Kilchreest into a waste recycling plant.

The decision outraged a number of local groups and residents who lodged an appeal to An Bord Pleanala.

The appeals board has now overturned the original planning permission and refused Walsh Waste permission for the plant.

It wasn’t satisfied that adequate provision had been made for the treatment and disposal of wastewaters.
