Four hill walkers have been rescued from Connemara national park, after they became trapped near the summit of Diamond hill.

The two Dutch and two French walkers alerted emergency services shortly after twelve o’ clock, when they became concerned for their safety because of high winds.

Galway Mountain rescue team responded to the call out, however the quartet were safely escorted back down the 400 metre high hill by a team at the national park.

Susan Finnerty is Public relations officer with the Galway mountain rescue team.

She says it’s lucky no one was injured in the incident
