VOTER TURNOUT SLOW ON GALWAY ISLANDS
Date Published: 26-Oct-2011
The turnout in the Presidential and referendums election on Galway’s four islands is slow up to this evening at an estimated ten per cent
Over 1,000 people are eligible to vote across the three Aran Islands and Inis Bofin
Polling stations opened at 7 this morning and remain open until 10 tonight
There are two polling stations on Inis Mór and one each on Inis Meáin, Inis Óirr and Inis Bofin.
Islanders traditionally vote ahead of the rest of the country in case bad weather hinders the return of ballot boxes.
