Visitor figures for Galway up by 30 per cent

Visitor bookings for Galway are up by 30 per cent for this St Patrick’s weekend according to an international survey.

While Dublin shows the highes increase of 50 per cent, over last year, Galway and Cork are the other most popular destinations for foreign tourists this Paddy’s weekend.

Research carried out by online travel agent Expedia.ie found that holiday bookings to Ireland for St. Patrick’s Day have doubled compared to this time last year.

Americans, Brits, Germans and Canadian tourists are our main visitors.

 Jill Lloyd from Expedia says Ireland remains a popular choice for holiday makers at this time of year with figures for Galway up by 30 per cent on the same weekend last year.
