A Galway woman, who had warned about the dangers of riding other people’s horses, died after falling from a former racehorse she shared with its owner.

Caitriona O’ Leary, who’s originally from Galway, had been living in East Sussex and shared a horse with its owner.

A coroner’s court in the U.K recorded a verdict of ‘accidental death’, after hearing that Caitriona O’ Leary suffered fatal head injuries after falling from ‘Mister’, a 15hand former racehorse, earlier this year.

According to the Irish Daily Mail, witnesses say she may have tightened up and leaned forward, causing the horse to bolt.

The coroner is to write to the British Horse Society about the dangers of sharing former racehorses.
