VANDALS DAMAGE SAFETY SIGNS NEAR SCENE OF N17 FATAL CRASH

Emergency road warning signs on a dangerous bend in North Galway on the Mayo Border were put out of action last night.

The council recently erected large electronic signs to warn drivers of the dangers approaching the bend on the main N17 road at Carrownurlaur.

Four young women lost their lives in a road crash on the bend – which is about 2km from Ballindine – last November.

Four safety signs were put up on both sides of the bend as a result and two of these were damaged by vandals last night.
