US CONGRESSMAN DISSAPOINTED AT GALWAY CHE GUEVARA PROPOSAL

A US congressman has expressed his dissapointment at Galway city council plans to erect a statue of Che Guevara.

Congressman David Rivera, who is the US representative for the Florida district has released a statement on the issue.

He states that Che Guevara was a ruthless murderer who established a dictatorial regime that is still terrorising the Cuban people 53 years later.

The project is still in the planning stages but the decision to honour Guevara has recieved unanimous approval of the city council.

The US congressman joins US house of representatives Foreign affairs chairperson, Ileana Ros lehtinen and Galway businessman Declan Ganley in calls to reject plans for the monument.
