The HSE West says less than 60 people have called its helpline to deal with the Hepatitis C alert.

Over 450 former patients of UHG, Castlebar General and Letterkenny General hospitals have been offered Hepatitis C screening as a precautionary measure.

The HSE West began searching for those patients ten months ago after a healthcare worker who worked in the three hospitals between 2004 and 2008 was diagnosed with the disease.

The helpline number is 1850 24 850.
