Up to 30000 to attend religious gathering in Athenry
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Up to 30,000 people are expected to attend one of the west of Ireland’s biggest religious gatherings in Athenry this weekend.
In keeping with a 200-year-old tradition, people will gather at St Dominic’s Well in Esker to take blessed water to heal their families, their land and their animals.
Masses will take place place in Esker at 11am today and tomorrow, Monday.
Mass will be followed by a procession to the well, where the holy water will be distributed following a blessing.
