United pay a big penalty

GALWAY United paid dearly for throwing away a two goal lead in
Terryland on Friday evening as they crashed out of the FAI Cup on
penalties in last night’s Second Round replay against Finn Harps in
Ballybofey.

Harps goalkeeper James Gallagher was the hero on the night, saving the spot kicks of John Lester and Ciaran Foley, and while Gary Rogers had denied Jonathan Minnock’s effort, he couldn’t get a hand to Sean Roddy’s strike which gave the home side an unassailable 4–2 lead.

It was the seventh time in the last eight seasons that United crashed at the first hurdle, and maybe there is something to be said for changing club sponsors to some sort of tea company, as it is the only way they’ll get to stay in the cup at this rate.
