United finish on a positive note

A highest league finish in 13 years, and a third consecutive win at home — not a bad return for Galway United’s first season back in the top flight after a five year absence.
That it was achieved by playing some pretty attractive football at times also bodes well for the future, and maybe club CEO Nick Leeson is right to suggest a top four finish isn’t beyond the club next season.
Based on this season’s final table, United would have to find an additional 20 points somewhere along the way to hit that target, but if United manager Tony Cousins can unearth four decent signings in key positions, then a top four, or certainly a top six, finish shouldn’t be beyond them.
