United face tough task in season opener

GALWAY United are hoping for a full house this Friday night when they host Bohemians in Terryland Park on the opening weekend of the 2008 League of Ireland season (kick-off 7.45pm).

The game has being designated an all-ticket affair, with tickets available from noon today at Terryland and from Zhivago Records on Shop Street.

“We’re really looking forward to the game, the lads have had a hard pre-season and to be honest it doesn’t get bigger than playing Bohemians at home. We want a full house and want everyone to get behind us as we look to get a good start to this campaign,” said United manager Tony Cousins,who put the finishing touches to his squad last week when adding one new face, and releasing two players on loan.

Ipswich midfielder Ollie Fenn (19) has joined United for the coming season. A product of the youth academy at Ipswich Town, he played for United in the 1-0 win over Athlone Town — Marck Leech scoring the only goal — in a pre-season friendly on Thursday evening and signed the following day.
