Representatives of SIPTU and IMPACT trade unions and employers are to meet at Merlin Park Hospital this morning [3/8] to discuss the HSE cuts agenda.

The meeting will be under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission in a bid to avoid industrial action by health workers.

SIPTU claims the HSE West has been advised to save 68 million euro over the next four months and there is a threat to almost 200 jobs in the city alone.

SIPTU Organiser, Paul Hardy says they want assurances today about the future of Merlin Park Hospital and how the HSE West plans to reach its budget targets.
