A Tipperary woman, who was misdiagnosed for breast cancer, may take a case against University Hospital Galway, where 2 of her biopsies were mis-read.

The 51 year old woman, known as ‘Patient A’, was incorrectly given the all-clear at Barringtons Hospital in Limerick.

According to a weekend newspaper report, ‘Patient A’ plans to take a medical negligence case against the privately owned hospital, Barringtons.

The woman was first referred by her GP to a consultant at Barringtons in 2005 after she discovered a lump.

She was misdiagnosed three times over the following 18 months, including two mis-read biopsies at UHG.
