UHG FAILS TO MEET BREAST CANCER TIME TARGETS
Date Published: 06-Feb-2012
University Hospital Galway has failed to meet waiting time targets for breast cancer investigations.
The Irish Independent reports that the breast cancer centre missed the target of seeing 95 percent of routine referrals last September and October.
Hospitals are expected to see 95 percent of women sent by their GP for ‘routine’ referral within 12 weeks.
At UHG, 63 point 9 percent of women were seen in September, while 84 point 1 percent were seen in October.
In total, five of the country’s eight specialist hospitals failed to meet waiting time targets for breast cancer investigations.
