UHG CONSULTANT WARNS HOSPITAL NOT FIT TO BE CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE

A consultant based at University Hospital Galway has warned it’s not fit to become a centre of excellence for cancer because endemic superbugs have made wards unsafe for leukaemia patients.

UHG is designated as one of eight centralised cancer care centres but correspondance released to the Sunday Times under the Freedom of Information Act reveals doctors believe patient safety is at risk from hospital-acquired infections.
