UHG ACCUSED OF USING CANCER FUNDS TO BALANCE BOOKS

University Hospital Galway has been accused of using cancer care funding to balance its books.

The accusation has been made by chairperson of the HSE Regional Health Forum Padraig Conneely.

It follows the diversion of €600k in cancer care funding for the west was to the city hospital’s general budget.

UHG claims it’s not an issue as it spends a “significant amount of its own budget allocation on cancer services.”
