U21 hurlers make changes

THE Galway U-21 hurling selectors have made three changes — none of them unexpected — to the starting line-up for Sunday’s All-Ireland final showdown with Dublin at Croke Park (2 p.m.).

Into the side come Killimor wing back Andrew Keary, Ardrahan midfielder David Kennedy, and Kinvara corner forward Conor Kavanagh at the expense of Paul Loughnane (Cappataggle), Aiden Harte (Gort), and Noel Kelly (Sarsfields) respectively.

Both Kavanagh and Kennedy turned in hugely impressive displays after being sprung from the bench in last month’s semi-final thriller against Cork, which saw Galway emerge victorious by 4-21 to 2-18 after extra time.

Kavanagh, who had been injured two weeks prior to the semi-final, scored a cracker of a goal and two points after entering the fray at half-time. Keary, who captained the 2005 minor side to All-Ireland glory, was unavailable for that Thurles encounter due to a toe injury.
