U16 Camogie on the brink of All-Ireland glory

MEMBERS of the Galway U-16 camogie panel won’t need any reminding that this is a week to keep their feet firmly on the ground as they prepare to do battle with Tipperary in the All Ireland final at the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick on Saturday (2pm).
The passion, intensity, work-rate, interplay and scoring produced against Kilkenny in the All Ireland semi-final were so captivating that the main fear has to be that the Tribesgirls might not reach the same heights against Tipperary.
Indeed, it will be a mammoth task to replicate the intensity of their previous championship performances against the only other unbeaten side in the competition. Given the nature of Galway’ssublime display against 2008 champions Kilkenny – who were seeking a five-in-a-row of national titles this year – manager Johnny Kane and his management team of Noel Kelly, Emer Kearney, trainer Tom Paige and goalkeeping coach Tommy Kenny will be reluctant to change the dynamic of a winning side heading into an All-Ireland decider.
