Date Published: 02-Jul-2012
Two city men have been remanded in custody, one with consent to bail, in connection with a major weekend drugs seizure in Kilcolgan.
350 thousand euro worth of cannabis plants were discovered during a planned search operation on Saturday evening led by Galway Divisional Drugs Unit and Gort Gardai.
41 year old James Griffin with an address at 29 Droim Chaoin, Bishop O’Donnell Road and 34 year old Gilbert Reid with a former address at 46 Rockfield Park in Rahoon appeared before Galway District Court.
James Griffin was remanded in custody with consent to bail based on a number of conditions.
He is due before Harristown District Court on Friday [July 6th].
Gardai objected to bail for Gilbert Reid due to what Garda Barry Walsh described as the "seriousness of the charges" and the value of the drugs at 350 thousand euro.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Harristown District Court, also on Friday [July 6th].
